Spoiler-complete through Chapter 43 (published Royal Road chapters are canon). All details are grounded in the published chapters; anything unstated is marked as such. Note: several names from the author's outline (Seren Veyl, Edwin Ashveil, Jin, "Jareth") have not appeared in Chapters 1–43 — though "Cynder Veyl" (scythe wielder, Team Varro) closely matches the outline's Seren Veyl, and "Maledic Thorne" matches the outline's "Malrec Thorn."
Protagonist
Landen Thorne
- Aliases: "Landen Knight" (name he registered under at Aegis Vanguard Military Academy); "Mifaso Latido" (name on his ID tag — a police mishearing of his sung musical notes; also his #1 alias on the Underground Leaderboard); "Mifaso" (River Ashlock's shorthand for him); "Lone Knight" (his Earth streaming handle).
- Who: Protagonist. Former #1-ranked pro MOBA player on Earth (Legends of Heroes), captain of his self-built roster Team Thorne. Ripped into another world by the god Bob to serve as his knight/champion.
- Appearance/Personality: On Earth: pimples, scars, freckles. In the new world his body was "refined" — same face, clear skin, thicker black hair, chiseled six-pack. Long dark hair (braided into "pixie braids" in Ch 22). Analytical, cocky, gamer-brained (frames people as opponents/NPCs), obsessively hardworking, comedic; terrible at real fighting but relentless in training. Short-circuits around beautiful women. Before gaming, he studied computer engineering as a kid — reworking circuit boards and selling custom video games online.
- Abilities: The MOBA System (class Fighter; primary specialization sword; secondary fist). Learned abilities: Critical Damage (D-class passive: 25% chance for +200% physical damage, scaling to 65%/400% at Lv 5); Cultivate (B-class: stores up to 5 attribute-boosting charges). System features: quests/EXP, training system with time dilation, real-time ability logging, tactical overlays, health/essence bar vision, stat allocation, and (Ch 43) a hacked [ SYSTEM API ] tab with custom drivers. Carries a MOBA Bracer (summons inventory items; 2s delay, 5s cooldown).
- Key stats: Essence Grade rose Civilian → Elementary 1 (Ch 7) → Essence Level 2 (Ch 35, 70/200 XP). Attributes banked/spent across chapters; by Ch 35: Strength 4 (+15), Agility 4 (+3), Intelligence 4, Vitality 4 (+2). Total Energy measured 0 at intake; soul-color test returned completely clear ("blank slate" — could wield all elements/weapons at the highest level, or none). Academy file still lists him Civilian (zero-star crest) until reassessment. Bob placed an attraction-rerouting "seal" in his mind (beauty → nausea/vertigo); Liora Fenwick inexplicably triggers no reaction, and by Ch 28 his reaction to Ember fades entirely (unexplained).
- Relationships: Bob's champion; Maledic Thorne's self-declared "brother" (the System says it's coincidence — different worlds); Ember Strife's fixation and reluctant ally; Kael Halvek's person of interest; River Ashlock's investigation target; Team Halvek B's official captain (Support).
- First appearance: Ch 1. Status: Active — training Essence Skin in Halvek's battle room; heading into his second Drex punishment session (Ch 43).

Named skills: Red — Ignite!, Orange — Fire Ball, Orange, Red — Combustion Burst, Yellow — Solar Wall, Orange, Yellow — Volcanic Prison, Sun Spark (fourth skill; blinding golden flash). - Abilities: Escalation (passive: +5% attack speed per consecutive hit within 3s, max +25%; full stacks +25% basic damage; resets on miss or 3s gap); True Sight! (Rune bloodline ability: left pupil vanishes, three concentric blue rings; reveals weak points for 5s; hits there deal true damage ignoring defense; next attack after it ends deals 200% crit; levelable to 5). Effective range 20 meters. Essence 2 → 4 stars.

Divine & Earth figures
Bob ("the Lord")

- Appearance: Boy ~8–9 years old; spiky white hair; radiant silver eyes; white robe with sleeves hiding his hands. Can manifest as a single enormous eye with a silver pupil; teleports with a "Vrip."
- Personality: Fanboyish toward Landen (asked for an autograph; holds a trading card of Landen's face marked "RC" and "One of One"), playful — then steely and commanding. Judges Landen as having "the mind of a general" and "the potential to be a God of War," wasted on gaming.
- Lore: Summoned Landen ("I am the king. You will be my knight"); has "lost the ability to directly intervene in this world." Designed and installed Landen's custom dantian (micro-spiritual transistors) and the MOBA System ("Bob must have developed this in case he ever needed to come back and fix something"). His mission for Landen: kill his brother's chosen champion — "If you fail, you will be the one who dies." Whether Bob and "the Lord" (the System's term) are the same being is strongly implied but never explicitly confirmed.

You were too busy celebrating with your friends to bother listening to me." / "Hardly — mildly offended, perhaps."). Appendix: Author's Drive Notes — Enrichment & Planned Characters
Everything below comes from the author's Google Drive story bible (docs including "Landen - Character Details Abilities," "Landen - Girl/Male Characters," the "Characters" subfolder, "Landen - Teams," "Ember Rejects," and the chapter drafts). Published Royal Road chapters 1–43 are canon; where notes and chapters conflict, the chapters govern and the conflict is flagged. [Notes] = author-bible enrichment. [Planned] = has not appeared in published chapters.
Landen Thorne — [Notes] full ability kit
Only Critical Damage and Cultivate have appeared in published chapters; the notes define his intended kit: - Fist (no weapon): Fist of Fury (passive: 10% chance per landed punch for +1 attack speed, 5s, refreshable); Life Steal (passive: +2%/4%/6%/8%/10% HP per landed attack by level); Cultivate (detailed: +10–50% to a selected attribute per charge by level, max 5 charges; cleaned-up costs 2 Light Energy / 5 Soul Energy / 3 Dark Energy per charge; 5s charge, 2s between charges, −1 charge per 10s idle; expends all charges on attack, +40% movement speed for 5s, 20s cooldown); Shadow Attack (2 pts: a shadow follows the strike at −50% damage, 0.5s mini-stun, 2s CD); Energy Burst (Ultimate, 5 pts: +800/1200/1600/2000/2500 damage by level); Parry (perfect-timed dodge = instant cooldown reset); Berserk (Ultimate: all attributes ×2/×3/×4/×5 for 20s). - Sword: Shockwave Damage (attacks echo to nearby enemies); Refining Sword (D: weapon stats ×20, +100% physical attack at Lv1); Blade Blink (C: teleport to any sword in radius, no CD); Sword Tamer (B: call unattended swords within 20–100m; Lv5 unlimited at 0s CD); Moon Splitter (A: ranged cutting energy wave); One With Sword (S Ultimate: merge with the sword; details unstated). - The notes' two stat blocks for Landen differ from each other (HP/Physical Defense/Magic Defense formulas) and partly from published numbers — published chapters govern. - [Planned]: takes Orio's spare sword in Ashfen Forest; later leads Team Varro after Orio is removed as captain; kills Maledic during the invasion and changes his registered name back from Knight to Thorne in remembrance. - Name variants in notes: "Malrec Thorn" = published Maledic Thorne (follow published); "Legends of Kings" = published Legends of Heroes (follow published).
Ember Strife — [Notes] backstory & five-flame system
- Draft surname in the bloodline lore: "Ember Lypyrion"; current/published: Strife — follow published.
- [Notes] backstory: the Cindercrest bloodline is ~1,000 years old, founded by Aurelion Cindercrest, who survived the Volcaris Mountains eruption wreathed in a crimson aura (origin of Flame Resonance). Ember's mother defied the Cindercrest Leader (her own father), married a commoner; their branch was disbanded and took the father's name Strife — but everyone still knows/fears them as Cindercrest blood.
- [Notes] Five-Flame Inheritance: up to 5 flames float behind her back, weakest → strongest: Red, Orange, Yellow, White, Blue; each flame has its own ability and adjacent pairs combine (9 abilities); using a flame puts it on cooldown. Published chapters show her wielding red, orange, and (Ch 36–37) yellow — i.e., published is slightly ahead of the notes' "currently only red and orange"; white and blue are [Planned]. Draft kit names (still in flux — one doc literally says "I need help creating abilities for Ember Strife"): Ignite/Kindling Shot, Flame Jet/Blast Bloom, Combustion Burst/Phoenix Rush, Sun Spark/Solar Brand, Solar Flare/Volcanic Prison, Purifying Pillar/Flame, Searing Ray/Sunfire Judgment, Plasma Shield/Azure Inferno, Supernova Collapse/Starfire Ascension, and the all-five-flame ultimate Crimson Genesis (Primordial Flame transformation for 10–15s, then all flames exhausted).
Magnus Cindercrest — [Notes] enrichment
Full name Magnus Ignatius Cindercrest, Young Lord of House Cindercrest, 18. [Notes] His goal is not to make Ember fail but to make her return and admit she needs the family — her independent success would invalidate his life's devotion. Signature techniques (draft): Ember Crown, Royal Inferno, Sovereign's Judgment; his fire burns hotter the calmer he is — anger weakens his control.
Gragic Foreman — [Notes] enrichment
6'9", renowned hunter family, wolf-fang necklace from his first hunt; hunter spear with restraining hooks, heavy round shield, two trained hunting dogs (Hunting Pack); Beast Call variants: Aggro, Intimidation, Mating, Distress; Alpha Roar can seize control of beasts to fight for Team Varro. (Published Ch 31–32 shows Distress Call, Alpha Roar, Beast Tamer; the rest is notes.)
Mira Ellowyn — [Notes] enrichment
Long dark chestnut side-ponytail, silver glasses, goggles, tool-filled uniform, talks to her inventions. Sprite abilities: Sprite Rush, Falcon Assembly, Siege Assembly, Titan Assembly (a cockpit Titan with Archblade, missile pods, Prismatic Cannon); destroyed sprites refund 75% energy. (Published: Sprites, grenades, kamikaze, knights transformation.)
Zirk Holloway — [Notes] draft kit
Tracking Arrow (30s mark, visible through fog of war, glowing footprints), Pinning Shot (energy tether, 2s root), Heartseeker (ultimate: charging piercing arrow). (Published: energy bow, Hunter's Focus.)
Orio Castell — [Notes] draft kit & [Planned] arc
Draft twin-sword ("Sun and Moon blade") kit: Twin Rhythm, Cross Slash, Mirror Step, Crescent Prison, ultimate King's Gambit — but published chapters show no named Orio abilities; treat as draft. [Planned]: removed as captain before the freshman tournament (his wake-up call); Team Varro improves under Landen's leadership; Landen takes his spare sword in Ashfen.
Cynder / Cyndrin Veyl — [Notes] "Academic Vulture"
Forbidden Spell: Sorrow Harvest — absorbs residual mana, despair, and life force from fallen allies; his scythe permanently gains damage each time a tagged ally dies (resets on his death). Full Blood Tag kit: White/Energy (+10% next-attack damage per tag, max 5), Black/Drain (+20% move speed per tag), Red/Ward (+5% defense per tag; 5 tags block one attack fully); White Blade, Black Blade (mist slowing to 40%), Red Blade, Hook → Slashing Wave. [Planned]: "Later Landen fights him"; a future event has him tag thousands of captives and release all tags at once, becoming "Godlike."
River Ashlock — [Notes] backstory
The Ch 44 draft gives his backstory: grew up on the lower-district edges fighting kid gangs, befriended a bullied large boy (Torvin), built their own gang and won territories, then was swept into a "special kid's camp" where they learned essence. Underground standings per the Ch 44 draft: River #2, Maledic #3, Orio #4, Ricker/Riker #5.
Ryker Tann — [Notes] stats
Doc stats: HP 1200, Elementary 2 (75), 50 DE / 50 SE / 25 LE; Resonance Pulse / Omni Wave with per-level numbers. (Published Ch 23 gives 1,500 HP — follow published.)
Hero / Garrick Drex — [Notes] enrichment
Hero: a full head taller than Landen and Maledic, handsome, tank top, upbeat spotter — consistent with published. Drex: notes add the flat stare, zero tolerance for excuses, and being secretly invested in students' survival ("the difference between alumni and casualties").
Elara Vesperine, Jareth Hale, Veya Rune — [Notes] planned additions
Elle: Shadow Blades, Phantom Barrage (five shadow selves) — planned. Jareth: the notes spell "Jareth Halo" (follow published Jareth Hale); Titan Barrage, a 20-punch ultimate, and a ground-slam barrier — planned. Veya: the notes spell "True Site" (follow published True Sight); a combined-weapon cannon shot and an aerial spin barrage — planned.
Bob — [Notes] naming & deal
The notes call the god "White" and his brother "Black"; published uses Bob / son of the Creator / "the Lord" — follow published, note the variant. [Notes] White is Landen's biggest fan (asked for an autograph); the deal: accomplish the goal → keeps his powers and is sent home; the notes claim 5 years passed on Earth — not in published chapters, flagged.
Maledic Thorne — [Planned] future (notes name him "Malrec Thorn")
Real name Jason Soyer: Landen's YouTube fan/donor ("Malrec"), a gaming addict who couldn't catch Landen in Legends of Heroes, switched to the harder Defense of the Crystal and became its top player; took Landen's surname "Thorne" out of fandom and knew his identity from day one. Dark System: the more damage he takes, the stronger he gets. Follows the Cursed Growth Strategy / Trial of Rebirth (pain-for-power); joins the mask man in the invasion; Landen kills him. All unpublished/planned. (Follow published name Maledic Thorne.)
Planned Characters (not in published Ch 1–43)
- Edwin Ashveil — seer / tactical analyst. Her prophecy: if this exact 5-person team wins, a sealed calamity awakens (or Landen becomes a tyrant through victory). She subtly sabotages the team out of love for it. [Planned] beat: she kills Landen right before a tower defense — the team wins on creep count anyway; then a portal opens and the mask man's men come for Landen. Paradox reveal (planned): her visions show one possible future, not inevitability — her sabotage may cause the catastrophe.
- Iria Fenlow — a rival school's "scholarship"; elemental striker (wind/lightning); secretly paid to make her team fail so her indebted family is saved and her sick sibling gets a rare elixir.
- The "curse" storyline [Planned/draft]: the Girl Conflict doc outlines a planned arc where Landen's girl-revulsion curse draws five pursuers — Lysera Vale (the confident challenger), Mirelle Ashen (the strategic observer; figures the curse out first), Kaelith Rune (the chaotic experimenter), Liora Fenwick (the gentle strategist — note: published Liora is only the nursing-track seatmate; this is a planned variant), Nyx Calder (the playful saboteur). Explicitly narrative planning, not canon.
- Mikael Runesh — name-bank entry: rich noble pursuing Ember, "leader of the Ember Rejects." Almost certainly the draft name for published Micah Rush — follow published.
- The mask man — invasion antagonist; Maledic joins him. [Planned]
- Melinda StarFrost — tournament host and Landen's obsession. [Notes]: when Landen asks the System's name, it answers "Melinda StarFrost" — a girl who died young; he plans to summon her into a beautiful, intact, soulless body. Status unclear / planned.
- Joren Hale — male name bank: "Landen's teammate: Fighter." Not in published chapters; possibly a renamed Jareth or a planned teammate — flagged.
- Kaelen "Kael" Vance — student registered in Landen's System [[ Heroes ]] tab; distinct from instructor Kael Halvek. [Planned]
Ember Rejects — [Notes] origin & planned escalation
Began as a running joke among boys Ember rejected; curdled into genuine bitterness. Micah Rush's spark: a noble a few years older than Ember (doesn't attend Aegis), publicly confessed to her and was answered with "Get away from me you disgusting slime" — the crowd's laughter was, for a noble, the ultimate disgrace. He acts as shadow puppet master (money, proxies, private Discord servers). Planned escalation: the Glitched Ledger, the Ash Locker, an "Ember Rejection Society — 63 members" flyer, and the Silent Circle confrontation (surrounding her silently in public, cameras ready). Planned resolution: Landen abandons his own fight mid-match — looking like a coward, losing points — to simply stand beside Ember; the Rejects back off on the weight of his presence alone.
